Our staff is committed to providing support, compassion, information, and direction as needed to all members of our community, their families, and friends who are dealing with loss and grief.
Mark Canale was born and raised in Marquette. He is a 1975 graduate of Marquette Senior High School, attended Northern Michigan University, and graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1979 with a Bachelor of Science in Mortuary Science.
He has been serving on the Embers Credit Union Board of Directors since 1995, where he was board chair for over 12 years. He also serves as the vice president of the board of United Way and as a trustee on the Community Foundation of Marquette County Board of Trustees. In addition, he has been actively involved with numerous other organizations, including serving on the State of Michigan Board of Examiners in Mortuary Science, Lake Superior Life Care and Hospice board of directors, member and past president of the Marquette West Rotary Club, member of St. Peter Cathedral in Marquette, and a member of the Knights of Columbus.
He is also the current manager of Canale-Tonella in Marquette and Canale Gwinn in Gwinn locations.
Mark takes an active interest in biking, walking, and golfing in his free time.
Jerry Pennock was raised in L’Anse. He was a 1989 graduate of L’Anse High School, received a Bachelor’s degree from Ferris State University in 1995 and in 1997 graduated from the Worsham College of Mortuary Science in Chicago.
Jerry joined the Canale staff in 1999 and serves as manager of the Canale & Pennock Funeral Service in Ishpeming
He and his wife, Jacqui, have made their home in Harvey and have a daughter, Ava and son, Quinn.
He enjoys spending time at his hunting camp, golfing, and snowboarding in his free time.
Charli Lynn Peters was raised in Munising. She graduated from Munising High School in 2008, received a Bachelor of Science degree from Northern Michigan University in 2012 in Criminal Justice and in the Fall of 2013, she graduated Valedictorian from the Worsham College of Mortuary Science in Chicago.
Charli joined the Canale staff in 2014 after receiving her license to practice Mortuary Science in the State of Michigan. She was an active member of the Marquette Center for Dance for 19 years and enjoys ballet and tap styles of dance.
Her hobbies include walking, reading, downhill skiing and spending time with family. Charli enjoys caring for the families we serve in Marquette and Alger Counties.
