Obituary
Judy Ann Sarosik, 75, a lifelong resident of Marquette transitioned on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 after a 5 ½ month struggle with cancer.
Judy is leaving behind a loving husband, son, five granddaughters, one godchild and four great-grandchildren. She was very proud of her Native American Heritage and was a member of the Anishinaabe Red Cliff Band of Lake Superior Chippewa. Besides being an artist and educator, she was an environmentalist, a soul sister and a women's rights activist.
Judy was a leader in education through the Michigan Reading Association and Young Authors. Her ability to make connections and establish relationships with children allowed her to encourage story-telling, poetry and writing in her young students. As a mentor and friend many future teachers learned in her classroom by her example, patience and care.
Judy loved being surrounded by nature; for nature and art were her inspirations. Her peace crane mobiles fly on driftwood, hand-picked from the shores of Lake Superior and the Yellow Dog River. Judy believed in balance and peace. Her smile, her timely advice, and warm demeanor will be missed by artists that knew her and loved her so... She is now in all of our hearts where her spirit continues.
Per Judy's request no formal visitation or service will be held.
