Obituary

Lois A. O'Dovero, 82, of Negaunee Township, passed away peacefully Friday morning, October 1, 2021 at her home in the presence of her loving family and under the care of Lake Superior Home Health Care and Lake Superior Life Care and Hospice.

Lois was born on February 14, 1939 in Ashland, Wisconsin, one of ten loving children born to John R. and Ida S. (Nuutinen) Warren. She was a graduate of Mellen High School in 1957. On December 5, 1959, Lois married Peter O'Dovero in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Shortly after that they moved to Marquette with a pickup truck, a wheelbarrow, a shovel and their mobile home in tow behind them.

In her younger years, Lois and Peter traveled from town to town living on job sites doing concrete work. They eventually settled in Marquette and made a permanent home here.

Lois was kept very busy as a homemaker raising a family of nine children. When her children were older she attended the Northern Michigan University School of Cosmetology and attained an Associate's Degree after which time she opened two salons, the Total Image and the Golden Touch, which she operated for decades.

Lois and Pete enjoyed traveling the world, especially Italy. Spending time at the family camp in Michigamme was a regular occurrence. She also enjoyed snowmobiling, cooking, ceramics and even belonged to a bowling league.

In her retirement years, Lois enjoyed taking care of her 9 children, 18 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 2 great, great grandchildren. She greatly enjoyed spending winters in Texas.

Surviving is her husband of 62 years, Peter O'Dovero of Marquette; her nine loving children, Connie (Mac) McCauley of Sparta, TN, Peter O'Dovero of Michigamme, Jean (Tom) Temple of Marquette, Gerald O'Dovero of Marquette, John (Misty) O'Dovero of Negaunee, James (Laurie) O'Dovero of Marquette, Joseph (Deanna) O'Dovero of Negaunee Township, Jay (Kim Racine) O'Dovero of Marquette, Paul (Jennifer) O'Dovero of Marquette; 18 cherished grandchildren, 8 adorable great grandchildren, and 2 longed for great, great grandchildren; five siblings, Shirl (Lee) Schiestel, Joyce Luttinen, Mary Kivi, Susan (Jim) Weiner, and Robert (Terry) Warren; also numerous nieces, nephews and cousins . Preceding her in death besides her parents was an infant son, Jack E. O'Dovero and four siblings, Wally Warren, Jack Warren, Eleanor LeDell, and Joann Kivi.

The O'Dovero family will greet relatives and friends on Thursday, October 7 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Canale-Tonella Funeral Home and Cremation Services. A funeral will be conducted in the funeral home at 4 p.m. Thursday with Jeff Iisakka officiating and will be live streamed at: https://my.gather.app/remember/lois-o-dovero A reception will follow at 6 p.m. at the family home, 101 Quarry Road in Negaunee Township. Burial will take place at Northland Chapel Gardens on Friday at 10 a.m.
