CLIFFORD B. "FARMER" TRUDELL

January 16, 1938 - September 15, 2021

Obituary

Clifford B. "Farmer" Trudell Jr., 83, passed away Wednesday, September 15, 2021, at home in his wife's arms.

He was born January 16, 1938 on Mitchell Hill in National Mine to Clifford Sr. and Maude (Dymond) Trudell. He graduated from National Mine School and shortly after went to work at the bowling alley at the Miracle Center and later at his uncle's store in Lower Michigan.

Returning to the UP, he married his wife, Ann and they had 5 children. They decided to raise their family in Tilden Township and bought the old Trewartha Farm and created the Tilden Valley Farm. The farm became known for the excellent Brown Swiss and Gurnsey Cattle and outstanding produce. He worked at various jobs, cutting pulp, construction and then he worked for CCI for 30 years. He worked the Ore Improvement, Republic, Empire and retired from the Tilden Mine.

In his spare time he was Supervisor of Tilden Township and helped create the National Mine Recreational Complex, The Marquette County Township Association and the West End Transfer Station. Later he was elected as a County Commissioner and was instrumental in the re-purposing of KI Sawyer to become an international airport. He also served in the National Guard.

When Cliff retired he became a volunteer for several organizations, such as The Knights of Columbus, Marquette County Fair, Marquette County Genealogy Society and the Barnes Hector Remembrance Committee. He was so proud of his ancestry and heritage. He came into possession of "The Red Book" which showed the family tree from the first Trudell to settle in North America to 1960. He was always on the lookout for persons with ties to the Trudell tree and would find out for them how they were all related.

For the past 26 years, they would spend winters in Silver Springs Florida and had close ties with the people in Lindale Park and Springs RV Park.

Cliff was a care giver. At work he did maintenance of large equipment and their crew, he took care of his family, the farm, wildlife, Sand Hill cranes, geese & deer, his church and the members, and his community serving all well.

He is survived by his wife, Ann (Salo); sons, Douglas (Teresa), Paul, all of Ishpeming, Scott (Stephennie) of Wisconsin; grandsons, Joshua of Escanaba, Stephen of Wisconsin, Douglas (Lynn) of Wisconsin; great-grandsons, Mason, Gavin and Zayray; several nieces, nephews & cousins in the US and Canada. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Nancy and Yvonne; triplet brothers; and two daughters, Nancy Armata and Teresa Stahl.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, September 30, 2021 at 11 am at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with Rev. Ryan Ford officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 am until the time of the Mass in the church. Interment will take place in the Ishpeming Cemetery.
