Obituary for NELL ST. ONGE

Nell St.Onge, 91, of Gwinn, passed away peacefully Tuesday morning, July 31, 2018 at the Norlite Nursing Center where she had resided since January of this year.

Nell was born on January 6, 1927 at Osier, Michigan, a daughter of the late Edward and Eva (Morin) Lancour. On July 5, 1947, she married Roger “Pete” St. Onge at St. John’s Catholic Church in Marquette.

She retired from the U.S. Postal Service in Marquette in 1990 where she worked as a window clerk for many years.

After retiring, Nell and her late husband, Pete, moved to Punta Gorda, Florida in 1991 where she became an avid golfer. Hurricane Charlie blew her back to the U.P. in 2004. In her free time, Nell greatly enjoyed taking up the hobby of photography and printing her photos off on her computer.

Survivors include one son, James (Sheila) St.Onge and a grandson, Garrett St.Onge, both of Gwinn; one brother, Gerald (Vernice) Lancour of Racine, WI and a sister, Sharon Bates of Maple Rapids, MI; also surviving are many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death besides her parents was her husband, Pete St.Onge on August 31, 2003; also five siblings, Morris Lancour, Roger Lancour, Helen Lustick, Evelyn McNamara, and Joyce Bartlett.

A private graveside service will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery in Marquette.
