Obituary for PETER C. MARCHANT

Peter C. Marchant, 84, of Negaunee, passed away on Saturday morning, May 5, 2018 at Teal Lake Senior Living Community surrounded by his family and under the care of U.P. Home Health and Hospice.

Peter was born on January 30, 1934 in Elizabeth, New Jersey, a son of Charles and Grace (Dwyer) Marchant. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from Michigan State University and proudly served his country with the U.S. Air Force, including time in Vietnam, retiring in 1977 from the former K.I. Sawyer Air Force Base with the rank of Major. He had lived in this area since 1970.

After retiring from the military, Peter worked with Curtis Industries for over 20 years as a salesman.

In his free time, he enjoyed fly fishing, listening to old country music, reading and watching sports especially the Detroit Tigers, Montreal Canadians and the Green Bay Packers.

Survivors include three children, Kyle (Marilyn) Marchant of East Anglia, England, Leslie (John) Willig of Gwinn and John C. (Janice) Marchant of Marquette; 10 grandchildren, Michelle (Robert) Donohue, Emily Marchant, Kevin Bowen, Allison (Taylor) Fong, Spencer Bowen, Alexander (Danielle) Willig, Rachel (Alex) Urbiha, Michael Willig, Garret Marchant, and Preston Marchant; also five great grandchildren. Peter was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ann in 2014; a daughter, Shelley Bowen in 2012 and one brother, David Marchant.

A private family graveside service will take place this summer at the Park Cemetery.

The Marchant family would like to thank Teal Lake Assisted Living and U.P. Health System-Marquette for the care provided to Peter over the last year.
