Obituary for LOUIS B. PARIS

Louis B. Paris, 89, of Gwinn died in the early morning hours of February 12, 2018 at the DJ Jacobetti Home for Veterans in Marquette, Mich. surrounded by family and under the care of the Jacobetti staff and UP Home Health & Hospice Care.

Louis was born October 25, 1928 in Princeton, Mich. to the late Joseph and Mary Paris. He attended and graduated from Gwinn High School in 1946. Following his high school graduation, Louis joined the U.S. Army Air Force serving his country during a 3-year enlistment. He earned a bachelor's degree from Northern Michigan University in 1952, and a Master's Degree in Education from the University of Michigan in 1954. Louie was an administrator and educator in the Gwinn Public School System until he retired in 1983. He also attended and graduated from the University of Michigan School of Real Estate, established a successful local business, Paris Realty, until retiring from real estate in 2001.

Louis married Marilyn J. Jory in 1952. Together they raised a family of four boys. Marilyn preceded Louie in death on July 26, 2005. Following the death of Marilyn, he married Patricia "Pat" Ryan on August 10, 2007.

He was a member of the Gwinn United Methodist Church, the Michigan Education Association, American Legion Post 349 in Little Lake, and the VFW Post in Gwinn.

Louis was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Mary, and three siblings-- his brother Peter Paris, and sisters Edith Sarvello and Angeline Moody, and his first wife Marilyn. He is survived by his wife Pat Paris of Gwinn. He is also survived by his four sons -- David (Marion), Bruce (Jill), and Scott (Holly) Paris of Gwinn, and Mark (Wendy) Paris of Shepherdstown, WV; grandchildren Adam, Louie, Allison, Spencer, Eli, and Mitchell Paris and several great grandchildren. He will also be missed by Pat's children Debbie, Curt (Penney), Jon (Sandy), and Roy Stack, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In accordance with his final wishes, a small family service honoring Louie will be conducted at a later date with interment of his ashes at the Gwinn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Louis's honor to the Forsyth Township Public Library, 184 W. Flint St., Gwinn, MI 49841 or the Gwinn United Methodist Church, 251 W. Jasper St., Gwinn, MI 49841.
