Sally Jean Cherrette, 81, of Marquette, passed away Saturday morning, July 14, 2018 at U.P. Health System- Marquette.

Sally was born on April 12, 1937 in Marquette to the late Earl and Laura (Wittler) Grimes and was a lifelong area resident.

Sally loved collecting antiques and sharing her treasures with family and friends. She and her husband, Pete, were antique dealers for many years and enjoyed going to auctions and sales. During her life, she worked for a time as a telephone operator/supervisor, but was primarily a homemaker who was best known for her pies. Her home was always open to anyone for a cup of coffee, some food, or just a chat.

Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Pete Cherrette, whom she married on July 17, 1954 in Marquette; four children, Rick (Teresa) Cherrette of Sault Ste. Marie, Sue Ellen (Ben) Reagan of Madison, WI, Sandy (George) Simon of Oshkosh, WI, and Dan Cherrette of Marquette; four grandchildren, B.J. Reagan, Laura Reagan Seidl, Rachel Simon and Jacob Simon; two great grandchildren, Kenzie Reagan and Logan Pete Seidl; seven siblings, Bob Grimes, Nancy McGregor, Gail (Terry) Nesbitt, Mary (David) Schierenbeck, David (Sue) Grimes, Eloise Martz, and Paul (Adele) Grimes; also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding Sally in death besides her parents was an infant son, Donald Cherrette; one sister, Joanne Salisbury and a brother, Daniel Grimes.

The Cherrette family will greet relatives and friends on Thursday, July 19th from 10 a.m. until 12 noon at St. Louis the King Catholic Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the church at 12 noon with Rev. Glenn Theoret officiating, followed immediately by a luncheon at 1 pm. Burial will take place in the Holy Cross Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be George Simon, B.J. Reagan, Jacob Simon, Rick Cherrette, Dan Cherrette and Ben Reagan. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bob Grimes and Eric Seidl.

Memorials are preferred to the 333 Fund c/o St. Louis the King Catholic Church, 264 Silver Creek Road, Marquette, MI 49855 or to a charity of your choice in Sally’s memory.
