Obituary for CARA MARIE ZANETTI

Cara Marie Zanetti, 45, of Negaunee, was received into the arms of her Savior on Monday, November 27, 2017 at UP Health System-Marquette surrounded by her loved ones after suffering a massive brain hemorrhage.

Cara was born on February 29th, 1972 at Marquette General Hospital. She was a Leap Year baby. She joked she was only 11 years old. Cara was a 1990 graduate of Negaunee High School. She received a Bachelor’s degree in social work from NMU and a Master’s degree in social work from Michigan State University.

She was a previous employee of Marquette General Hospital as a social worker in the NICU/Family Birthing Center, where she selflessly cared for countless families and babies. The rest of her professional career was devoted to caring for patients and families dealing with end of life situations and grief.

She was an active member of the Mitchell United Methodist Church in Negaunee where she sang in the choir. She was the official dough roller on pasty day. She was always available for whatever job that needed to be done. Cara loved to read and spent a majority of her free time looking for a great deal. Cara enjoyed spending time at camp on Little Shag Lake with her fur babies and her family.

Cara will be lovingly remembered by her mother and best friend Sally Zanetti of Negaunee; her father Dennis (Barbara Taetsch) Zanetti of Alamo, TX: three sisters, Margaret (Doug) Wehmanen, Elizabeth (Dan) MacDonald and Danielle (Bill) Haanpaa, all of Negaunee; also her fur babies, Carmen and Lily. Nieces and nephews, Megan (Mark), Morgan, Mason, Matthew, Paul (Jen), Danae, Cameron, Josh (Gina), Sarah, Christian, Daniel, Emilee, Hunter, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. Two very special children came into her life through a previous marriage, Blake and Skylar. Her grandparents and three fur babies preceded Cara in death. The love of her life, Scott Roberto passed away earlier this year.

Cara’s family will greet relatives and friends on Saturday, December 2nd from 11a.m. -2 p.m. at Mitchell United Methodist Church in Negaunee with a memorial service immediately following in the church. Rev. Albert Barchee will officiate and a luncheon will be served following the service.

In keeping with Cara’s loving and generous spirit, long ago, she made her decision to become an organ donor so that others could live through donation. The family would encourage you to consider making that decision as well. It has been a very comforting experience for her family to be involved in the process.

The Canale-Tonella Funeral Home is assisting Cara’s family where memories may be shared at canalefuneral.com
